Last December, Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge officially announced that the Liberals intend to redefine the role of the CBC before the next election, and they are putting together an advisory panel to make that happen.
This may be the last chance our government has to take bold and imaginative steps to defend the CBC, take back the rhetorical space seized by its detractors, and make our beloved public broadcaster better than ever. At Friends of Canadian Media, we will be involved in this process at every possible opportunity. That starts with bringing your voice to the table by telling the CBC advisory panel what real Canadians like you want and need from a reinvigorated CBC.
So today, we are providing you with a special opportunity to have your say. The government needs to lay out its vision for the CBC in a way that is clear, deliverable, and reflective of the needs of Canadians across the country.
With your help, we can ensure they do just that.
