Media advocacy group wants federal laws to address online advertising’s links to misinformation

Friends of Canadian Media Executive Director Marla Boltman spoke with the Investigative Journalism Foundation about our Keeping Ad Tech in Check campaign. The interview focuses on two pieces of legislation, C-270 and C-63, that can do more to keep Canadians safe online. Here is an excerpt: That includes expanding the scope of Bill C-270 to make it illegal for any money to be made from ads placed on harmful or exploitative online content. She also said Bill C-63 presents an opportunity to “to enforce accountability on big tech companies who monetize illegal and harmful content online.”
