FRIENDS launches radio ad campaign

Toronto  – Radio ads will begin today in cities across Canada featuring the actual voice of a Winnipeg Conservative MP declaring that the Harper government has NOT cut the CBC’s budget.

Even though the Harper government has cut CBC funding by $115 million, Joyce Bateman, the Conservative MP for Winnipeg South-Centre, declares to a constituent in a recent voicemail that:

I’m your Member of Parliament and trust me…we are not making cuts to the CBC…they have stable funding.

“We’ve called the campaign Whopper because Bateman’s message is at such variance with the facts,” says Ian Morrison, spokesperson for Friends of Canadian Broadcasting, sponsor of the ad campaign.

Whooper ads will start today in Saint John, Ottawa, St. Catharines/Niagara, London, Toronto, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.

The 30-second spot is available here and as a broadcast quality download here.
