Stars come out for the CBC

Toronto - Leading personalities from the worlds of Canadian business, literature, music and the arts will speak out about the importance of public broadcasting at a news conference in Toronto tomorrow.

The event, sponsored by the broadcast watchdog group Friends of Canadian Broadcasting, comes just days before Canada's broadcast regulator begins a review of CBC's licences for the first time this century.

When: 11 am - Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Where: Windsor Ballroom C, King Edward Hotel, 37 King Street East, Toronto

Who:

  • Will Ferguson, winner of the 2012 Giller Prize
  • Stage and screen giant Gordon Pinsent
  • Mary Lou Fallis, the world's funniest diva
  • Vincent Lam, winner of the 2006 Giller Prize
  • Eric Peterson, star of some of Canada's most successful television programs
  • Robert Foster, Vice Chair Business for the Arts and President and CEO of Capital Canada, an independent investment banking firm
  • Playwright and actor Michael Healey
  • Rita Davies, Former Executive Director of Culture for the City of Toronto
