Dalton Camp Award returns home

Fredericton – Nine years after its creation, the Dalton Camp Award returns to Fredericton this week with the presentation of the 2011 DCA Award at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. The ceremony will take place at 6:00 pm Thursday, June 2nd.

Friends of Canadian Broadcasting launched the Dalton Camp Award at an event in Fredericton in December 2002 to honour the memory of New Brunswick native Dalton Camp, a distinguished commentator on Canadian public affairs.

The Dalton Camp Award will go to the winner of an essay competition on the link between democracy and the media in Canada. In 2011, there will be one Award consisting of a prize of $5,000, as well as a bronze cast medal by the late Canadian sculptress Dora de Pédèry-Hunt. Up to four finalists will also be recognized and awarded a prize of $1,000 each.
