OTTAWA - Four of Canada's leading voices in the field of culture and communications will hold a public meeting in Edmonton tomorrow (March 16th) to draw attention to the growing threat of foreign control of our telephone and broadcast industries.
Friends of Canadian Broadcasting and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada have joined forces with the Council of Canadians and ACTRA, the union of performing artists, in a national campaign to counter growing pressure to open the door to foreign companies to own and control Canadian media and communications companies.
Edmonton West MP and Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan have been invited to speak at the meeting.
