NFB names new head of English programsJan 25, 2008 Source : Globe & MailToronto -- The National Film Board of Canada has completed its search for a new director-general for English programs. It's Cindy Witten, who has been vice-president of content at History Television since 2005. She has held a variety of positions in cable TV, also working for BBC Canada, National Geographic Channel Canada, HGTV and the Life Network. Before that, she was a producer and director at the CBC.In her new job, Witten replaces Tom Perlmutter, who rose to the top job of commissioner of the NFB last May.
