Toronto -- The National Film Board of Canada has completed its search for a new director-general for English programs. It's Cindy Witten, who has been vice-president of content at History Television since 2005. She has held a variety of positions in cable TV, also working for BBC Canada, National Geographic Channel Canada, HGTV and the Life Network. Before that, she was a producer and director at the CBC.
In her new job, Witten replaces Tom Perlmutter, who rose to the top job of commissioner of the NFB last May. Witten starts at the board on Feb. 25.
