Occupiers and Legislators contrasts the coverage of two major political stories from fall 2011: the federal government’s legislative agenda and the Occupy movement. This study set out to test three common criticisms levied at the media; namely that political coverage:
* Focuses too often on political games or government processes, at the expense of issues.
* Is routinely or overtly negative; and
* Fails to provide the public with enough information on issues that affect their daily lives.
The analysis suggests that two of these criticisms are unfounded, and one might be true.
