OTTAWA - Immigration Minister Jason Kenney is in hot water again over controversial comments.

This time it's for accusing the French-language CBC of lying "all the time."

Kenney was asked by a reporter with The Canadian Press whether it was acceptable for a cabinet minister to lie and change a document — referring to the controversy surrounding International Co-operation Minister Bev Oda.

Kenney responded: "Radio-Canada, they lie all the time. Which media are you with?"

He later said he was "just being sarcastic," but the matter was raised by all three opposition parties at a Commons committee where Heritage Minister James Moore was appearing.

Moore refused to comment on Kenney's statement other than to say: "It hasn't been my experience with the CBC."

Moore also underlined that his government has never cut funding for the CBC, and has upheld its campaign commitments to maintain support.

Last week, Kenney stirred controversy by criticizing judges for not going along with government efforts to quickly deport unwanted refugee claimants.
