CBC is an important link for all Canadians to each other and to objective reporting about the world. CBC is rational and entertaining. In our country of great distances, we are all connected by this vibrant radio programming. I question what sort of people would even suggests that CBC isn't worth every cent that goes into it.
I get most of my everyday national and international information from CBC Radio and CBC Television. I love CBC! CBC is a Canadian icon! I listen to CBC while I am at work 9 to 5!
My radios are all tuned to CBC as the first stations to be selected. If Radio One is not suitable at the time Radio Two most lkely will be.
Local news is good , and world news is also, the best on radio.
And when travelling it is not hard to find CBC stations to get familiar progams.
And classical music on Two is great with good commentary. We watch a lot of news and CBC TV news is our favourite.
CBC is a wonderful service provided to us.
I live in an isolated community in Northeastern Ontario and rely on CBC radio to keep me connected not only with my far away northern neighbours but with the rest of our country. The Harper and his ilk's ideology want to rob me of this by substituting load and inane private broadcasting which will drive me crazy. Lay off Harper!
I wake up every morning to the CBC broadcast. In a small community with only predictable 'formula' radio stations - country, 50's 60' 70's - with the same songs over and over, the CBC is a lifeline to the outside world of Canadian and International news and Culture. Especially in small communities like ours, sprinkled all over Canada . . .don't let the current government 'pull the plug on the CBC. That would be a short-sighted mistake!
Hurray for Peterborough. I wish I'd been there. The CBC is extremely important to all Canadians, especially now that the Conservative Gov't. is selling us out to the E.U. and American security. Harper and his cohorts should be thinking more about the Canadian people they were elected to serve and less about their own personal political agendas.
Not surprising that Harper's government migth want to shut down the CBC, our uniquely Canadian broadcaster. We Canadians have a long tradition of holding our government accountable, and the CBC has supported us in doing that. Harper's government, however, has done all it can to silence any dissenting voice and those of us who don't share Harper's vision are in danger of becoming totally invisible in the greater scheme of things. Shame on you, Mr. Harper, for undermining further our ability to participate in shaping our own future and putting unique Canadian culture at risk!
Way to go Peterborough! We live in Southwest Nova Scotia and without the CBC we would be in the dark. Local radio is noisy and full of loud commercials but the CBC gives us up to date news weather and informative information and great music. Yarmouth needs the CBC!
As everyone else above has so aptly stated CBC has represented the voice of CANADA for many decades!! It is unbiased and that needs to be seen & heard around this beloved world especially in these times of such exponential change! I think you would agree Mr.Harper..CBC and Peter Mansbridge gave you an enormous on air opportunity for a fair and informative interview. What are you guys really afraid of hmm? Please stop trying to make Canada into Harperville..you can only push us so much!
