Let's Stop the CBC Smackdown

Anonymous — Jan 10, 2012 - 11:51 am MT

Without the CBC news both on radio and TV, it would be a dull and uninformed world and all the Canadian music, entertainment and informative specials how would we know what is going on in Canada and the rest of the world. My taxes pay for the CBC and all the people involved are merely the custodians and managers of this incredible resource.

What next?CBC is as Canadian as the RCMP & as famous. It is THE ONLY programme worth listening to on the radio.I am VERY unimpressed by the new owner & am fearful of the kind of radio programmes of which he wld approve.I'm absolutley shocked that our Prime Minister wld allow such a calamity to occure to our beloved CBC.

I would like to believe that the Prime Minister would not push his ideology to the point of destroying the institution that helps keep Canada together. But he is very busy trying to push his agenda to build unneeded prisons to give young offenders training on how to become a better criminal.

I am shocked! I thought this might have been a bad joke but it looks pretty authentic. When I have travelled in the States, people have said that they like listening to CBC as it gives a balanced view of what is going on. What a tragedy.

They're using satire, it's one of the first things said in the introduction, and yes it's very well done, and that's what makes it seem authentic. Because it's probably not far off the mark of truth, slightly exaggerated. Is this what we are willing to allow or are we going to sign that no, this is ludicrous?

The CBC is a legacy of the P.M. of Canada in the 1930,s which he and his colleagues realized was and is THE MOST IMPORTANT media form to bind Canadians together from coast together Unlike our present"Conservatives", he could see the educational, cultutal ,and opitical value of this govt sponsored media outlet. Today, CBC is respected around the world... just like the Canadian Wheat Board.Any politician who thinks otherwise is inviting an early retirement!!! What morecan we say. KGL

The CBC must be above politics! We need the trusted voice of the CBC! Living far from the maddening crowd, my reliance on the CBC and TVO, is total. PM Harper! lay off. Concern yourself with important matters: global warming! the tarnished Canadian reputation! the plight of our First Nation People! the burgeoning number of seniors! the broom which sweeps incidences of questionable behavior under the parliamentary carpet. PM Harper! get with it! Pay attention!! work on what need fixing! and JUST DO IT!!

I grew up listening to CBC, and it remains to this day the only station I listen to and the only channel I watch. CBC keeps this huge country of ours united. It sometimes feels like the only community I have. Vive le CBC!!!

The CBC offers a myriad of takes on a wide range of subjects including personal experience offering listeners insight and information which helps them better understand the world they live in as well as navigate an 'environment' which is increasingly more difficult both literally and figuratively speaking. The delivery of programming offers a level of intelligence which is rare on the airwaves. It is an excellent use of our tax dollars. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Let the CBC thrive.

We listen to CBC radio from Florida. Without it, there is no news. We used to brag about are CBC. Now we hope we won't lose what is left of it.
